What should I expect at my first visit?Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. Tara will take a detailed history of your current symptoms, past mental health treatment, medications, medical history, and the specific circumstances bringing you in. The evaluation typically lasts 60 to 75 minutes. From there, she will work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan.

Mind Matters currently provides psychiatric care for adults. If you are seeking care for a child or adolescent, we are happy to provide a referral.

We currently accept the following insurance plans:

  • Aetna
  • Highmark BCBS Northeastern NY
  • BlueCross BlueShield of Western NY
  • Cigna Behavioral Health

We recommend contacting your insurance provider before your first appointment to verify your mental health benefits, deductible status, and whether Mind Matters is in-network under your specific plan.
